Gray progressed to serving as a superintendent supervising projects. In 1994, he became a project manager for the eastern area of North Carolina and led oversight of construction of highways, school buildings, shopping centers, federal waste landfills and related projects with cost up to $20 million. He is a proud graduate of Appalachian State University, where he majored in Construction Management. In 2018, he became a full-time employee of Triangle.
